  1. good advise there from Mike!

  2. I cant diet, (I'm to too lazy) i eat fast food, chocolate, and drink lager, So that's why I'm about 3 stone overweight, Oh well.

In all seriousness in my uneducated opinion if you cut down a little on the bad stuff at a time you wont notice it too much and your body wont go into shock, and just think that for every night you don't do the beer and a curry thing and eat a little healthier that's a little bit healthier you'll be, In short a little at a time.

i agree its got to be a lifestyle change, i have been the same weight for years if i eat what i like (6ft 4 and 110kg) but the older i got i found especially in the winter i was creeping up on the weight, last xmas i was 118kg so i dieted and excersised and got down to 100kg which i had never been for well over 10 years, however this was just not maintainable i soon got fed up of eating just 3 small meals and fruit as snacks plus walking a lot.....i weighed myself last week and was 113kg so i need to address this... when i go shopping this weekend i will avoid buying crisps biscuits and nice treats and get back on the fruit, i wish i could eat junk food all day (why call it junk when it tastes soooooooo good?)

  7. "Eat yourself thin", don't eat less eat MORE..

But eat unprocessed foods and try to cut out or cut down on Bread and Potatoes, at regular intervals during the day.
Smaller portions around every three hours starting at breakfast. then mid morning, lunchtime, mid afternoon and finally dinner time.

Drink plenty of water, perhaps a glass of water BEFORE every meal..

Oh and the Exercise, You must exercise,,.

  8. Forgot to say, DON'T fill yourself up of foods that say "Now 90% fat free"...

To get rid of 90% of the fat they substitute it with other crap you don't need....

Anyway your body needs a good protion of healthy fat to maitain itself...

  11. Some great advice so far...

    I started being a little nicer to myself whilst on holiday in August, what prompted we was standing in front of a mirror trying on a lovely Howies jumper and all I could see looking back was a fat bloke who looked a little bit like me, I checked the mirror to ensure it had not been used in some end of pier amusement centre. After a couple of days sulking with myself and thinking about how that bloke had got here made the decision to act now. What I did was;

Started by drinking lots of water every day and especially before any meal as the water fills your belly and makes you feel full.

Cut out drinking alcohol by volume (swapped cider for a small spirit) as you still need to let go every now and then, stop the every night couple of pints.

Stopped eating cheese as I would regularly eat a war rations worth as a snack, sometimes whilst cooking dinner

Stopped eating pastry, it's a bugger walking past the Cornish Bakehouse/Greggs I know
but it is purely down to retraining your mind.

Eat more fresh produce, being a vege I was surprised at how little I actually eat.

Eat breakfast every day, just get up 5 minutes earlier.

Take lunch to work as you then won't be tempted by other treats in the shop/takeaway/canteen.

Start taking exercise, for me that was the hard bit, loads of excuses about being busy, family life etc etc. I used to cycle a lot and just had to get on the bike, I bought a mag trainer which meant that I could then spin for half an hour without abandoning family commitments (5 year old at home).

Things started well and I shifted well over a stone in 4 weeks, now it is not so much about the weight loss it is about looking and feeling good. I have checked the ideal weight stuff on the BMI index and to be honest think that it is a little far fetched as we are not all built the same.

I have essentially stopped losing weight but am happy that I am losing inches (in the right area).

As for the Howies jumper, I never bought it.

Your a long time dead so enjoy what you like but the key word as I say to my patients is moderation. Somehow we seem to forget that word.

Also try smaller plates. Over the past decade our plates have got bigger ad bigger and so then has our portions. If you fill a small plate your brain will be fooled into thinking it's had a large meal.

  14. Great advice here already ;)

    Same as bike, water,

I eat loads of slimming world food, and i dont drink alcohol, drink diet pops too.

Wish you good luck on your journy ;) Keep us posted how you goo

  15. I agree with the fact , everything in moderation .
Ive been biking every night so far with 2 litres of water on my back and drinking it all by the end of the ride but I only took up the rideing again because I enjoy it as well getting healthy .
I don't drink beer so that helps but I have a weakness for co cola :)

  16. Eat in moderation, exercise (can be as simple as a daily 20 minute walk), drink enough fluids and enjoy life! I've lost 2 stone since having the baby, and I'm lighter than I was pre pregnancy, but fatter in different places, haha! I am more active now than I've ever been and it's made such a difference to how I look, and feel :)

  18. I go to work with no change in pocket, that way I'm not raiding the vending machine every 5 minutes for choccies and crisps, also now eat breakfast and more fruit, and exercise much more often,
