Deluxe Tachometers - Finally here

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by Deluxe Dials, Aug 29, 2013.

  1. Hi Guys

Apologies for not introducing myself 1st. I'm a former late bayer turned early bayer but have a mutual love and respect for all things Volkswagen.

Almost 2 years ago I had a plan to produce a bay window factory matched Tachometer to fill the blank plate in our bays.

Deluxe Dials are pleased to announce that the Type 2 Bay window Tachometers are finally here.

The internal unit used is a high quality VDO Tachometer with an operating range of 7000RPM with a 270 degree swing.

This is an excellent match to the original gauge cluster which simply bolts into the blank dash pod with the original mounting screws.

The gauge is back lit as per the original gauges.
The globes have been tinted green to match the cluster lighting.

The unit is all encased in a steel cup like the original clocks and mounted with a stainless steel ring.
The brass bezel has been added to keep with the original clock design and for a bit of bling.

Easy installation with full instructions and technical support.
They can be wired to the coil or to the alternator depending on your set up. Each unit can be tweaked via a rear adjusting screw to calibrate it accurately.

These tachs are available in a prototype bay 68-72 and a black faced late bay 74-79.
I have tested the prototype thoroughly now for the last 3 months and it has preformed flawlessly. See the video link.

There are only 20 gauges available in the 1st batch so first in gets one.

I’m offering these to Late Bay members for the same price early bayers are getting them. £145 including postage within the UK.
EU postage insured and signed £160
US postage insured and signed £160
Australia postage insured and signed £165

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

When you're in 3rd accelerating between 40 and 55mph, the revs appear to flap about between 3-3,500. Is there a problem with the long wires and the signal to the guage? It seems to be maxing out.

  4. You're very observant Zed. That was before I installed the diode. The needle movement is now flawless and smooth. I supply a diode with every gauge.

  12. Yep prices of clocks taking a nose dive due to current none demand ....

  13. They're awesome, shame I don't need one as I have an auto :(
I do have a type 3 clock which could do with being converted to fit the hole if its something you could do? Failing that have you made a clock version yet? :)

  14. Sorry. No clocks at this stage. There really is no demand for them.

Lots of satisfied customers. Take a look at the feedback here. http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=52625

  15. Not disputing their popularity or indeed the feedback fella. I have an auto so not really required :)

  16. yeah you missed my point . i dont want a clock i have one ...my point was there must be loads of people selling clocks to fit these ....i `ve thought about it ....

  17. Can you please reserve one for me? I have a '73. How do I order it?

  18. I really want one. Can I pay by instalments, interest free? The wife holds the purse strings (and wears the trousers) :)

  19. So are you taking orders?
    :)
