So I’m getting some of the van electrics sorted and having a whale of a time getting the horn to not continuously sound with the ignition on. The steering coupler I bought a while back doesn’t seem to be a very good one (cool air) as I think it has a metal core, meaning that the four bolt holes aren’t isolated from each other making it near impossible to isolate the steering column and get the horn to shut up! Has anyone bought a decent coupler from somewhere else or has one for sale? Or any alternative solutions (I tried electrical tape but tightening the bolts broke through it, and I doubt it’d be a very permanent solution). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I got a Vw 1 from heritage or c&c not sure wasn’t cheap but steers now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What year is your van? Do you have the early horn arrangements with the insulator at the bottom of the column, or the later, better style (where you do need a wire link across the coupler)?
Gave up on mine and bought an aftermarket one I've fitted to the dash. Sent from my H8314 using Tapatalk
I suppose you could take one of those wireless push button remotes, strip the transmitter out of its case and fit it under the horn push so it sends when you push the button, and put the receiver and relay under the dash... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/131758440909
