Decent replacement for worn Bosch svda distributor

  1. Was looking for a good quality replacement as genuine Bosch are nla.
Don’t want accuspark as had an issue before with them. Are the SSP ones sold by Heritige any good? Just need std points type as already have a pertronix module.

What’s the problem with yours and what issues are you getting?

I had what looked like a totally knackered Bosch SVDA rebuilt by them & it looks as good as new. It has been running for the past couple of years with no issues

The bonus is that you get the shiny refreshed one within a matter of days...perhaps the good news in your case it won't be the one you sent !.... I presumed they refurbished your own and left Petronix module on ..... it came back with points !

I got the same one back, complete with a new electronic ignition module (I took pics of the part number & serial no's etc prior to sending it) :D

quite a lot, and it will have zero effect on the running

  9. Thanks for the recommendation i have spoken to Lee there, sounds promising.

  10. Too much end float might just be one of the fibre washers broken up, there are two one inside the distributor and one outside.

  11. ^this. It’s radial (side to side) wobbling that will affect the timing.

  12. Does anyone sell the shims/fibre washers as a refirb kit?

What I got back was well refurbished, but it was back within 48hrs......I either caught them on a very slack ( or busy ) day.

  14. You can get the fibre shims, never had to replace the metal shims.

  17. See what you mean had a tap at the pin but it don’t want to move :(
Having second thoughts on diy as the fibre shims are not easily obtainable in the UK either.
Recon I’ll send it to ign solutions for a refurb.

  18. They don't. I'd assumed (see recent post elsewhere) that they were just a roll pin, but that would be too easy ;). They're solid and pressed in. I gave up on mine (no real need to remove it as fibre washer intact) before I broke something...

  19. I made a hold for the dog out of a large nut 1" with the threads turned off in the lathe and a hole drilled through the flats so I can push them out. Powerspark ones just tap out.
