Just had news from my mechanic that the engine is out and the cylinder head will need replacing. I will get the detail from him when I see him later this afternoon. I'm not mechanically knowledgeable but there is an issue with the valve seat which has led to this problem. I'll ask more later, but my question now is: 1. Is a new head easily available? 2. Anyone recommend trusted stockists? 3. How much is the head going to cost me? 4. Is is just as well to replace the engine? The engine is a 2.0 fuel injection engine, Type 4, on our imported camper. Any guidance would really help. Thank you
New heads not normally a problem to get hold of.. Heritage , Coolair, Justkampers e.g... https://www.vwheritage.com/071101061x-cylinder-head-2000cc-393-x-33mm-complete-vw-spare About £350 new.. but they're fixable too.. for a bit less. And prob no.. whole engine will cost a bit more.. though you can do a lots to them while they're out being fixed to refresh.. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Found the engine code is GE. Can I use Part 021101062AX ? Would it need modifying or do I need a different part? Thanks
That’s a generic head, it will work but may not be the same as what you have as them for valve sizes , my spare engine is GE code
Have a look on both heads... the one your keeping might be different.. best to match that one .. I found a 2ltr head on the opposite side to the 1800 one good I checked before ordering valves... Be carefull though before you know it your engine like this... Tonights job is splitting this... as you might as well do bearings while it's out... Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
