Cuthbert's Restoration

  1. Just to let everyone know I have not given up I put my back out end of January which in turn led to acute sciatica worse pain I have ever felt, ended up on crutches so couldn't do anything to Cuthbert. Sciatica cleared up mid May so made a start again but back offshore just now so will post photos when home in 10 days time.
Basically managed to get bus turned over onto it's side with the rollover jig and some advice from James ley. Stripped everything off of the underside and have started shot blasting the chassis so I can see the full extent of rot and bodge jobs. Also seems to be too many tophats used there are no I beams anywhere :-/
Will update with photos and more progress as soon as I get off this floating oil pump.

  2. Nice job, you don't hang about. I suppose that's the benefit of a good rota.

I was 2/3 for long enough on Curlew FPSO and the Aoka Mizu FPSO. Just organising my FOET so I can try and get back out there before my current ticket expires. Want to avoid 3/3 though if I can! Rather do 2/2 if that's all I can get.

    Where are you working?

  3. Working on Beryl Alpha 3/3 rota, gives me plenty time to do the restoration so all good

  4. With a penchant for green and a hatred for the plate I assume you're a Celtic fan? :D

  5. Not at all, I actually can't stand football, would just like to put it back to original colour but keeping the plate in Scotland is asking for trouble especially if its green.

  6. Haha, I know that!

Might fetch a few quid though. I've worked with quite a few Rangers fans.

  7. .....I've had an idea..... paint it blue Hahaha.:p:D

  8. What year is your bus?
Later late bays didn’t use any I beams
