Thank you, actually bought the bay from Manchester, welding's like anything practice makes perfect and a half decent machine and the correct settings helps a lot, I do feel grateful that I got taught though as it does and will come in handy
Was it a project you wanted for learning and enjoying the 'journey'. Someone on here bought one cheap for resto and sold it on soon after untouched for about £500 profit. I mentioned it as you said you may sell it on. Bear in mind that restorations cost a lot of money as well as time and you probably won't get your money back. But of course you will learn a lot and it will be a great hobby. Its a difficult decision now you have the van. Maybe you could ask the restorers on here for their advice.
It is something that I will enjoy doing and will definitely finish it and with working off shore I have 3 weeks with nothing to do every rotation so my time isn't really an issue, the hardest thing will be stopping the resto to come back to work. If I do sell it it will be hard to part with im thinking, the misses has already fallen in love with it, we will have to wait and see but part of me just wants to bring them back to life, there are too many high tech fancy vehicles on the road these days, we need more character and soul on the roads. If all goes well it will hopefully be the start of many restos so even if I do sell it another one will come along soon enough, most likely outcome is to use it while doing the next one up. Hope this makes sense.
Couple of questions that can hopefully be answered on here 1. The van was sold as a Devon and does have a Devon pop up but after reading through threads on here I'm not sure about the single louvered window think I'm correct in saying devons are split down the middle, is there anyway to be certain it's a Devon or different conversion. 2. Can the original number plate be sold..... due to living in Scotland and the Celtic and rangers scene I am dubious about leaving the original plate on in case it gets painted green or scratched. Thanks for any help
well sorry to dissapoint but decided to build a new 50 square meter workshop for the restoration so will be later than i thought starting. Took me 3 weeks to dig up grass and soil and put level base and floor down but having good workshoo should help resto along
