One thing - do you have 2 valves or 4 valves for the air?
One comment I saw on air rides pointed out
If you corner with a system that only has a single valve front and another for the rear as it corners, the air goes from the outside air bag to the inside air bag as the outside wheel goes up. That lets the body roll because the air pressure stays the same as one wheel goes up and the other wheel goes down.
With 4 valves, when the valves are off, the air pressure on the outside goes up as the weight comes onto it as the air cant flow across.
At the same time the pressure drops on the inside wheel so it doesnt move down as much.
    So body roll is less.

Its easily changed once you have the setup. You could also have a dual gang valve on the front and another on the back to keep two controls.
With 4 control valves when you want to change a front tyre you might be able to go up on three wheels...

Or level it up for camping across the hill..

  4. The front it very complex not a lot of room to fit it in but reading up if u get adjustable shocks they say most fit them at an angle to get the travel on them as they are on angle from standard Iv got some

Pity there was not a way to join the airbag strut top pivot to the top suspension arm, rather than ending up with a third pivoting arm.
It would have been less solid than the third arm, I suppose.

And the shock goes from the bracket at the front with the two holes to the top airbag mount ?

    Its great to see.

But the complexity goes a way to showing why people replace just the shocks with hydraulic cylinders with remote dampers and remote raising/lowering pistons, but these cost money, not time.

  9. Had a good few hours on it today welded it all to the beam and a gusset for bit extra made shock mounts but gonna over lap that now I know it in right place all works good got great lift ect much better than them air shocks still gonna clean all edges up and paint it all up nice ect but did a few measurements and I recon I can go 25 mm lowers on front with a bit of trimming and raising a few more bits up into the bus so that's tomorrow's job but drove it out unit and loads more steady than them air shocks
    [IMG]
Full height nearly this is and it's ple ty high snuff to get over all the obstacles ect but I can go down more I recon on the bags will have a little play tomorrow a trim

I hope what you have done is good because if it were inspected by a structural engineer they would see that you are not a structural engineer with a quick glance and will look very hard at it. The gusset design is the giveaway, you have metal there not doing anything, a structural engineer would not have made them square and generally used lighter guage steel which is the other giveaway - over engineering is the default if you don't know how to do the calcs.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with it, it's probably brilliant and will still be in one piece long after the actual bus has rotted to dust, but there are aspects that would attract attention so be ready next time you're in Germany, they do so love carefully designed good engineering that anything short of that offends them.

  15. Never seen this till now but I have today cut off the top mount and extended the beam a touch to give it more support and gusset is just to give me a bit more I know it's solid but Iv gone over and above what I think it would need (never going to Germany now it's slammed ) but yes Iv gone a bit over what is needed but rather it be there allso managed to get it a bit lower with some nip and tuck here and there [IMG]

    Can't go any lower now

And if there's an air bag problem it'll literally scrape along on the chassis?

  20. If they both pop yes but 1 bag keeps it off floor but I am gonna wind up spring plates to suit to just keep it rolling the front the leaves on top arms hold it just up but 1 bag lift both sides and all on separate lines so chances r in my time I'll loose a bag but only £50 a pair 20 mins to change a bag will have x2 in bus
