  1. Hi
Anyone else having trouble with starting after spell or damp and frosty weather.
Van T2 bay has been running perfect but after the odd day of cold frosty days, will not fire up.
    Cheers

Try taking the air filter pipe off the carb and pouring some fuel down the carb throat, it usually fires then!

  4. You got your foot all the way down on the gas when starting

Squirt WD 40 onto your ignition leads and clean them with a rag, same procedure for the coils business end.
If this doesn't work try some new leads.

Sounds battery / starter related then.
If the battery isn’t 100% a couple of cold nights can kill them.

  12. Yes cheers, possibility is the battery again will have to boost it again. I have a quick release on it so when run again will leave it off.

  13. Sounds very much like I had this morning, which was caused by a flat battery as I hadn't driven it since the 12th Dec.

  14. Yes that's it, when left for a while battery seems to drain I have to use the battery booster 3 times now.

  15. Worth checking to see if you've anything putting a drain on the battery while parked up, or it could just be like mine, a 12 year old battery which is a bit knackered.

  16. New year, new battery. and clean up the wiring/cable connections, at starter solenoid, battery connectors, battery earth, gearbox earth strap to body. When parked up for a while disconnect the battery leads to reduce battery drain. Get a ctek charger and keep the new battery charged up.

Mine starts first time every time due to the above.

This time of year condensation will happen and as said spraying a little wd40 on ignition components including distributor cap inside should help to drive away the damp and keep it away.

  17. That's exactly what I did the other morning!

  18. +1 for a Ctek battery conditioner if you’re not using the van for long periods. There shouldn’t be much battery drain probably a few milliamps from the clock. Unlike modern vehicles with many ecu’s which usually create a battery drain of 60 or so milliamps.
However if the battery is a few years old and has been left for a while in a discharged state it will have furred up the plates causing an internal cell short. Time to scrap it & buy a new one.
