  1. Well to simply check the cabel would be to pack it with washers and see if it makes any difference but i think its more than a bad cabel or adjustment

Will do Matt. It'd be great if it is just cable related but not convinced yet!
Did you say you had a spare scooby box.....

I had a similar problem after fitting a heavier clutch, which turned out to be the metal conduit that the cable runs through had broke away from the chassis where it passes over the beam. When the pedal was depressed the bend in the conduit was straightening out if you will.

  4. Sort of but not really. Could defo find one and sort one out for you though.

    Just spoken to Fellows.
Even selling my 6rib and adaptor it'd still be about £2k for a drive in / drive out gearbox job.
Unfortunately I'm sat in the office doing bugger all rather than under the bus trying to find out what the problem with it is!

  6. How much free play do you have at the peddle ?

I adjusted mine last night as there was about 2 inches of travel..... the difference between the standard clutch on the type 1 and the Kennedy stage 1 pressure plates I guess, have it down to about 8mm of free play now....

Not sure if it works yet though as I'm still waiting for bits so that I can run the motor.

I reckon the biting point has been too high and its been dragging.
The biting point has always been well above half way which was probably what got me 5k out of a clutch.
    Bloody thing.

  8. although fellows charge ALOT for labour etc. the kit is costing me 2k plus a gearbox and a bit of work. plus gearbox hanger. and you will need a starter motor. tbh that isnt a bad price

Its £3k but he reckons £750 for my box (assuming I haven't lunched it) and a couple of hundred quid for the adaptor plate.
He reckons it makes a massive difference to how they drive.
Trouble is, do I really want to spend £2k on the bloody thing?
Out of interest, how long would you estimate to drop engine, fit new Kennedy clutch, reinstall engine? Just trying to work out how much that'd cost really.

  10. was just thinking about the cost of just installing a new clutch to your current setup. I reckon its got to be at least 500 quid?

  11. @Dubs what would you estimate?

Easier on water cooleds to pull the gearbox, 5hrs labour maybe, plus clutch

I assumed it'd be much harder because of all the coolant pipes etc?

Depends what clutch Fellows use, but @davidoft isn't far out. It probably is easier to leave the lump in and drop the box on a Scooby conversion.

I think he meant that it's harder to drop the engine because of the coolant pipes etc, so it's easier to drop the box. (Although that depends if the coolant pipes run under the box I suppose...)

Ah I see. Cheers for that!
Its got a slight coolant leak anyway so if it has to come out, I might as well get it all done at the same time.
    Bloody thing.

Engine conversion time, I recommend one with no water to leak, @pkrboo will have one for sale in a minute, or just swap busses :D

  18. Have you had chance to check the welded bracket etc yet[IMG][IMG]

Not yet, I'm sat in the office doing nothing.
    Hopefully later!
