I've just used some kerosene to clean an oil bath filter, and tried white spirit on the plastic box I was using to contain the mess .... Worked well.
    Should I,
    A) leave the oil bath be?
    B) follow up with white spirit on it?
    C) use soapy water, rinse etc?
    D) use white spirit AND soapy water etc?

The oil bath filter partly works because the coir above the oil is covered in oil .. too much cleaning inside and it takes a short while to get working again.

  5. Last summer I cleaned out an oil bath air filter from a Massey Ferguson tractor, thought it smelled a bit then discovered the rotting remains of a family of rats which when disturbed was possibly one of the worst smells I have ever come across had a hard time keeping lunch down but at least the tractor started better once it was all cleaned out.

That would certainly improve the smell of my "exhaust"
