Well tomorrow will tell whether I've left enough clearance for the rock. I know it's close & we'll have to loose the strap, but that's no real loss as I don't need it yet to haul myself in or out!!
The one closest to the slider is on the top of the corrugation to the left of the original captive fixing. In other words, closer to the side of the van.
I hope it works. We've used M6 rivnuts.
It gives us 112 cm or 44 inches to lounge about in. Oh the sheer luxury.
What I'm not sure about, is the effect of not having the hinge in the valley of the corrugation on the gap between the seat back cushion and the engine shelf cushion. It'll be minimal I hope.
If I don't post tomorrow, it's gone horribly wrong & I'm refitting the OG Berlin interior

OK, today has been a mixed bag. @Dicky predicted a tight fit on the rock on the bed & guess what?, It's a tight fit!, I will have to scribe a bit off the bed to make it clear the side wall, but I'm happy with that. It's only a bit off the corner.
I've sacrilegiously chopped up a bit of Conty foam, but as it's in the interest of research I thought it worthwhile.
    Here are the results:...

We've been down the pub and four pints of "Business As Usual" (Derby) has made me not want to edit photos!

Work it out if you will, I can't now!! But it will fit
And the remainder of the day was used up fitting the Truma water inlet and the US hook up!
BTW @sjhjoinery , the hole is 10cm wide by 8 cm high !!

Yeah, got one of those for under the rear seat.
The bus bars will mean that I've only got one connection to the battery terminals as otherwise there is a connection for solar, 230v Ctek, split charge relay and the out for the leisure circuit.
A bit anal probably but it works for me and I can isolate the solar (always on unless you switch it)! without interrupting the rest of the wiring.
Boaty Steve ! You'll soon get used to it......:D:D

  8. Glad im not running a propex heater as thats one less draw on my battery;)

Im looking forward to the point in time im sat in the paravans engine bay with the fluke getting the wiring in
Its all cheaper and safer than a crack habit though:D

Boaty indeed, but this is not much more than a bed on wheels? I have a linked fuse box but apart from the lights and music stuff I can't think of anything to attach to it! I do have 3 wires on the battery though - Eber, split charge and feed to the fuse box.

You guys (@vanorak @Dicky) have lost sight of the bigger picture IMO - camping without having to put a tent up. That's my take anyway, I go to get away from mod cons. I can barely turn round in my bus, where would I put all that stuff and why?

    @theBusmonkey where's your pump-out tank going?

  10. Its a favourite thing of mine to dream design and spec things for my bus
I do it with allsorts of things in my life

I bought the bus and decided i was leaving anyalysis paralsis behind

Simple vehicle following the kiss principle was my spec for the paravan initially

Well, for the majority of weekend campers you're absolutely correct & I can't fault you.

Some years ago we put up the vintage awning/circus tent etc and loved the life. However....

We are travelling in this bus for at least 5 months this year. So camping or living?
The van may or may not reach the places Mel & I have pinned on the map, but if it does we would like heating, water, cooking facilities and refrigeration, plus a comfy bed where we spend most of our time. Therefore we have taken a solid Westy Berlin and un-Westified it to make a classic camper (which we love the look of and leisurely style of travelling) that hopefully will take us places.

We've plugged out of "conventional" life in the way we live now! No house, no mortgage, no loans and no debts. 12vDC for power and a multi-fuel stove for heating. The "bigger" picture is at the forefront of our motivation & planning to see it is our goal. :D

LOL @zed , just spotted this!
We (both of us) poo in a bag (not the same one) if necessary but for sophisticated and conventional daily productions have a small Thetford.

BTW, on the boat I am very much in the cassette camp (yes we have a spare) rather than pump-out...another massive thread if you're watery ;)

    How 'bout you?

    I don't have a boat. ;)
    Behind a tree.
Do you hang the bags from trees like dog walkers do? Seriously though, after pooing in a bag, what do you do with the bag of poo?

Not yet, but you need to think about this.
    It's divisive.
In the same camp as "what oil" or "LHD or RHD", or "VW vs Scooby". :D:D
    have a good weekend....

    You too. :)
I have other features higher up the pecking order, whatever it has in the way of bog I'll put up with.

  19. I own a bus....I like tinkering with it...this is my bigger picture....:D

  20. Im not sure what you mean. All ive done is take my interior out to swap my 3/4 bed for a full width. Realise my interior was goosed, prevarocate about having a new one made, run out of money to do the big things so decided to lash what I have back together.

I dont have any inveters or USB sockets in fact at the moment I have a bed with no cusions and some lights. Im wiring it for split charge and distributing my leccy using the 30 odd year old zig that was originally in there.

Will be fixing the cupboard I have an putting it back in. In effect its got less mod cons than it had before. Dont even have a heater at the moment as it takess to much room up.

Currently spec is non existant but all I want is a cooker, a sink, a fridge with water , a bed, some curtains, a table and thats about it. No blue-tooth interstellar sun powered broadbang thingamywotsits. Ie all the crap I would have in a tent on a family holiday anyway.

Not sure what you think ive done but its obviously a lot less than that. Ive probably just talked about itv a lot!!:)
