Chicken or Egg - Front panel or deformation panel - what goes first?

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Nicolasticity, Jul 5, 2019.

  1. A van without a skirt is a strange beast. Not helped that when panels once were refreshed (by putting over the rusty ones - OMG!) they were not necessarily in the right place..

Having lost the skirt - ie the bottom 3 inches of the van I am now ready to start building up - but the best order is not so clear.

So the question is should the front panel be fitted before the deformation panel or after?

Front panel and deformation panel all trialled and drilled for spot welds. Usual strap method for pulling in the A post adopted along with some sash clamps to pull it all back in place. So I think thanks to the posts here I have that OK.

I did deformation first as it made access to the plugs welds easier.

  4. Same. I did deformation panel first and didn’t encounter too much trouble
