Carburettor Exchange FYI

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by dubster, Oct 28, 2011.

  1. Just thought I would add a quick update for Carburettor Exchange in case anyone else is thinking of getting those carbs refurbed over winter.

They are currently not taking work on as they are rammed! I had to book mine in for the end of November and then there is a 9-10 week lead time on them being completed and returned to you!

That means looking at the end of January to get them back, plus waiting for a warm enough day to get them fitted back in. Think I'll be missing winter camp.

If they're saying 9-10 weeks that takes you to the end of January without a break for Christmas / New Year.
Hopefully they'll be back in time for TechEnders..............

  8. how much do they charge for this?

  12. I hope no-one takes this thread as a bad report against Carburettor Exchange. Personally, I think it was a little unfair to start the thread in the first place. It could lose them business. Whenever I've spoken to them the first thing they've ever told me is how long they take. That's their policy. It often takes a while to source parts and they're so busy simply because they're the best at what they do.

I dont see how anyone could misconstrue this as a slating thread.
I dont see anything unfair about the posting of it, its simply a thread that states their current timescales.
I certainly didnt see any slating etc.

  14. I have just read the thread, and I didn't read it as slating...

Good businesses are busy, so you need to wait your turn.. Which is fair enough.

  18. Do you have to send them off now and wait or can you book them in for a particular date and continue using your bus? or is that all much too complicated.
