Has anyone stayed here by any chance? We're finally going to Carcassonne next year (after many years of yearning) and this campsite is within view of the towers of Carcassonne which sounds great! I just wondered if anyone had been and had an opinions on the site: http://www.campingcitecarcassonne.com/ Any other recommendations/places to visit in the area most welcome
Been to Carcassonne this August, but didn't use any campsite, slept in the bus on the main road that goes from the big Ferris wheel overlooking the old castle/town thingy. There were some other wild camping travelers there in an old rugged Renault van. nobody bothered us. I would avoid going on weekends in season, the crowds in the old town are unbearable.
Hi Sven! Thanks for coming back to me on this, I thought you would say that! I imagine it's a complete nightmare but because we want to set up camp for a few days wild camping won't really be appropriate. It's probably best to find a nice out of the way one and then drive to the Cite.
