I had a chat with a young lady who's bought Ed's (Techenders campsite owner) chopped roof ex-army splitty. She was on her honeymoon on her own after F'ing up somehow and not getting married. She had a couple of pallets and a mattress in the back and boxes of "stuff" under a nice new cover. It looked very cosy and plenty of room.

She's in the army. Times have changed I think, I was surprised the army allow pink hair and lip piercings.

  3. Thanks guys I do feel disappointed with the organisation of the club camping I understood who all the camping was all at one end but I was tolded there would be an area sealed off for us all. As I thought there would have been for any other clubs? Its a shame really. Hope everyone had a nice time anyway. John

  4. I feel you there - but remember its 3 points per tyre and they are very perished!! I only noticed as I was looking at how you did your whitewalls - being on a budget myself I was thinking of painting mine up!

  5. Cheers John and I'm sure no one holds you responsible for the camping arrangements. As you say we all pretty much assumed there would be a designated area for the various clubs. It wouldn't have been difficult to cordon of sections for people showing, they after all knew how many were coming as they sent the tickets out! I think most people found the guys at the gate area pretty clueless too which didn't help the general air of disatisfaction.
Other than that however we had a great time so many thanks to you for taking on the organisation for us.

  6. Thanks @johnw1666 for sorting out the tickets - we love the Yoda van... :theforce:

We had a similar experience to most trying to find everyone on Friday evening. Lady on the gate said club camping was at the far end of the left site past the music stage, but we couldn't find anyone up there. Asked two other members of staff and got two different answers, drove around most of the general camping and eventually returned to the gate to be told it was the field on the left, more or less where we were last year. We set up camp near there and saw @Devon Andy 's van and had a quick chat, although they weren't doing the line up this year.

Anyhow - we had a great weekend, especially the soapbox racing which was a right laugh. Well done @Beaver and Team Log, and thanks for letting us be part of it! :)
It was also nice to meet a few more TLBers - sorry if I didn't say hello, I am rubbish at introductions.

Hope everyone got home OK. Our van seemed a bit down on power and was perhaps running hot, so took it easy. We left about 5pm and were back home in Kent at 10pm with one short stop for fuel.

I thought of you once or twice as I pootled along. I thought damn that f*ckin Lasty bloke! :D
It does always happen when I put the 1600 in - I think "this is ok, I wonder why I bother".

  10. Type 4 is the way forward though @zed, we are just back after a detour to Drayton manor park today. My engine is a beast and just smashes through the miles. I can cruise at 65-70 if I want to (apart from the crap steering)

So why do you want to fit a modern engine?

  12. Sooooo ... in reality you can`t cruise at 65-70 :p

  13. I can if it isn't windy and I have the road to myself

    I bet you'll be disappointed. :D
You could get some bigger valve heads, 104mm pistons and rebuild yours.

  16. Or get a scooby then you really can cruise at 70 with almost no pressure on the pedal

  17. Obligatory photo collection from the weekend......
Sorry it took so long but I'm still suffering from the Alcohol/River/Me interface. :(
