Camper Jam - 6-8 July 2012

  1. I think, if its going to get cancelled, it will be today, rather than tomorrow. The forecast for the weekend itself isn't too hideous but I suppose it all depends on how much rain gets dumped over that area this morning/afternoon. By late afternoon, it's meant to have cleared north.

If it cancels, we're on beans. For a month (at least).

  2. I'd rather it be cancelled before I set off. I'm selling a kidney later to pay for petrol so I could hang onto it for a bit longer

  3. ^ ditto.

I'm sure if they postponed they would still make money from that to cover these costs. They might not make much this year but at least they would have happy punters.

  4. Im my opinion if they let it go ahead knowing its likely to be a washout then next year they deserve a huge downturn in attendance. Big Bang should have been cancelled but no, money grabbing organizers take your money then offer a paltry discount next year and it was truly a dismal weekend. CJ has every weather report telling them its an amber alert so they have no excuses in my book.

We kind of know it's going to be cancelled?...
So why not cut out the miserable bit and go straight to somewhere else?

  10. Well the obvious answer is that if it's not cancelled and we go somewhere else then that's a wedge of cash that we're each not getting back, and we might as well camp at the wet site that we've all paid for rather than one we haven't.

I do agree that it's time to start talking contingencies again though.

Doesn't bother me personally, no winging wife, kids and soaking awning to pack up.

But if I did have, I'd be packing up Saturday to go straight home, not to drive "x" miles and do it all again just for one night...

if i was going alone (and no offence to the wife) i wouldn't be as worried, as i'd just have enough room in the van but setting the awning up, and 2 dogs? you get me?

  13. we'll be fine with Puca, she hates the rain now she's getting on in age, so we'll have to coax her out of Wilma

at least that means dry bedding :))

in gedney the rain has calmed and it is just spitting now :)

  18. The rain will be coming from the east i.e. Peterborough and at the moment it's not raining here at all and hasn't for about an hour. The picture below shows the weather moving from east to west. Picture shows radar of rain fall

The picture below shows there is only going to be for a few mil this afternoon. And then less in the evening with sun breaking out as well. So it's not getting worse it's improving. I think the organisers will be looking at whether the ground will be cutting up with the volume of traffic. So if it still is on the earlier you arrive the better as the chances are you will get a good spot and won't get stuck
