Camp fire cooking

Discussion in 'Can Cook, Will Cook' started by martinsbus, Jun 17, 2014.

  1. We always try to find sites which allow camp fires which is a must for camping. Anyway now trying to experiment with cooking more things on the open fire. Obviously I already use a cooking grate to BBQ food, but looking to experiment with other cooking styles, such as camp fire bread, baked apples and pancakes cooked on upturned baked bean tins

So any other ideas/ recipes or cooking tips would be welcome.

    Thanks

pancakes cooked on upturned baked bean tins sounds interesting

  3. Very easy Kev, ideally you want the large tins, pancake mix and a fire. Place the upturned tin on the coals. Wait a while until hot then pour the pan cake mix onto the tin base and cook. Best thing, no washing up!

  4. I'll give you my NEW recipe for Garlic Cheese Camp Fired Cooked Pot Bread. (providing it works at the weekend and doesn't kill any of us). :)
