poss not mech tech. However, when we removed my cab door card there was no plastic liner. As I’m about to put my newly recovered card back on I pondered what to use.

Would some thick plastic from let’s say for example, a builders rubble bag, or the bag 25 m of Speedfit pipe comes in suffice?

    Cheers

  4. Plan A sounds good. Note shape from ebay adm s draw round your cards onto plstic sheet. Cut inside the line so its a bit smaller and stick it on there. Spray glue possiblynormdouble sided,tape.... you get the gist.

There’s a flap on the back to divert water down

I used our clear plastic recycling sacks supplied by the council - three years on and the door cards were completely dry with no watermarks. I'll do the same again tomorrow when I refit them. Spray glue for the fixing. If you've got vents, remember to make an inner flappy plastic bit to cover them inside.

Silicon them on around all sides and tuck the bottom edge inside the door skin

Cheers for replies. I’m hoping no rain in the morning so I can check the van out, while it’s at home. If I’ve not left it on the job I’m going to use the Speedfit bag as it’s mainly clear but will also be a little plumbing memento for me :)

Use tape called Refix tape, you can remove the liners off it without tearing, its double sided, buy it off eBay, it’s quite expensive but 200% worth it, don’t use plastic that’s thicker than standard it makes the door card bungs pop out

I take it I cut out holes where necessary and for the big hose that goes around the ventilation bit I should put a flap, taped horizontally, on the inside of the membrane with the fixing going above the hole? So that water coming in through the fairly rubbish window seals doesn’t come in through the vent but, but I can also open the vent?

My door card appears to have just been screwed on. I’ve got some contact adhesive and thought I could use that? Also got some closure plate tape for fitting behind gas fires (duct tape really) so pondered using that too? I’ve found the plastic I’m going to use in the garage

You can use contact adhesive if you wanna be a rough arse builder type about it :p

Would anyone recommend sticking the membrane to the door card, or the van please?

  19. @Merlin Cat The bag says Speedyfit so it won’t take that long:D
