  1. Hello All,

I sold my VW Beetle 3 years ago due to too many children, wheelchairs, pushchairs and cakes needing transporting :-( .... but now my Hubby and I are starting our search and looking to buy a type 2 late bay campervan that we can go away with our 3 children in/with. I have got no knowledge of car/vw mechanics (but we are happy to learn) so would be looking at one that is already roadworthy. Can anyone help and make any suggestions for us about where to look or advice on what to look for/avoid.

    Thank you very much,

    Elizabeth x

  4. Welcome from up here in West Lancashire.
Just set yourself a budget and try to stick to it - don' t get taken in by the first shiny new paint you see - take someone with you who knows them - we took ages to find ours - and only found this forum after we had bought one. Like you we knew nothing about VW campers - although I do have a classic MG as well. Good ones often come up for sale on here - good luck

  5. Hi there! I'm from Leicestershire too (Hinckley) and am also starting the search for a late bay. I've learned loads since being on here, and everyone has been so welcoming and helpful. Good luck with your search!

  6. Welcome, what's your budget, do you mind LHD ?

  7. Hi, thanks all for the lovely welcome. My budget (top end) is £20k but I would like to find one for less if I can to give me some spare for personalisations ;)

"bunrab" stands for "Bunny Rabbit", bit daft I know but I do love by bunnies!

ha, none taken..... not that i'm bigging mine up but make sure you don't get sucked in by new shiny paint - mine may be a poo colour but at least you can see what's what..... and respray can be done for your budget anyway #justsayin.

  15. So true ,if go round looking for the perfect light blue one or whatever it might take forever and a decent paint job is only a couple of grand.

  16. he is right buying off a forum rather than blind off e bay has it's distinct advantages ,you can follow the buses history...

Pity about the colour ,but i would prefer any colour over w h ite even cream...
