Here's the blurb on the bug tech web site:
    http://www.bug-tech.de/product_info.php?products_id=49

"This shifter is a radical new approach according to any other shifter on the market. Shifting travel is wonderful short, the look is straightforward and functional. Very big improvement compared to the original VW shifter.
    - reverse lock done by counterpressure
    - quick and easy mounting
    - 100% made in germany"

Hayburner also sells these in the UK, @ £304 : http://www.hayburner.co.uk/shop/Section/4

Any questions let me know (pm)
    cheers Rob

    Gasburner44 and S1mon like this.

  2. Yes, just screws on/off. You could easily replace it with something else if you wanted.

  3. I want a gene berg like you have really but this looks good as well. Was it the look/style that your mrs/boss didn't like about it?

  4. Yes. the decision to sell is purely based on aesthetics. She wants something that looks "classic" and period appropriate to the van. i wanted something that functions well and personally i love the way this looks but she's right - it's not something that you would have expected to see in the van back in the '70s. If it was up to me this would already be fitted with the mechanism exposed for that cool race look ("but it's not a race car!".. lol) . My compromise i suggested to the boss was that i make up a nice leather gaiter to match the brown interior that covers the base, and fit a 917 /911 style wooden ball to the top - you'd then only have the thick shaft noticable.. i think that would have worked but hey, no worries. I've ordered the berg now - purchase approved in advance this time.

where are you based? no problem if you want to take a look at it/ see how it works/ what it looks like in your van etc.
