Hi, I've a breathable cover (not sure of the make) put on when the van was completely dry. It's rained a lot and this morning I discovered some condensation under the roof part. Is it actually worth putting a cover on in this bad weather or not? will it cause more harm than good. Opinions please.
It will stop water getting thru any perished or misfitting seals, and reduce rotting from the inside, but it will 'sweat', not a lot you can do about that.
We stopped using ours. FWIW it was a JK one but condensation was a problem. Leaving it open to the elements didn't seem to do it any harm in our case
Had a JK one definitely agree with putting something on the upper surface of the van, between, like footballs or whatever to leave a gap
I did as you suggest but found I couldnt kick the balls and taking a goal kick was virtually impossible
Yeah, anything to create a gap. I actually tore mine getting it off when it was wet. Sort of stuck to the roof.
I used to be religious about using a JK cover but now apart from getting fading indicator lenses, I leave it uncovered with magnetic engine vent covers to slow down rain. Used to be annoying peeling it off when it froze to the poptop.. also didnt help its waterproofing pulling on it like that..7
My van sits on the driveway in all weathers and just cover the engine vents to keep the rain out. I had thought about a cover but the van is quite tall and the covers are quite heavy so not manageable for me at my age and covers do need to be tied down or they can get blown away in the wind.
This one has tightening straps at rear and the front and rear bottoms are elasticated.. I'll try and get a pic up.
