  1. driving along cool then engine cuts out. Tried to restart.....nothing.

Got no electrics whatsoever. All cables still attached as far as I can tell.

    2ltr type 4

    Any ideas ?

  2. Wiggled the wires connected to the starter and everything jumped back into life again. Weird.

The bolt on the starter is nipped up nice and tight, maybe a split in one of the wires????

Not a great environment down there for wires/connections , undo the nut on the starter after disconnecting the battery of course, and give them all a clean, squeeze the spade connector up a bit as well and check all main earths

Practically all electric threads always say check earth/chassis groundings. Usually a rule of thumb. It's amazing how poor earths can jigger up any electric connections to anything.

  5. Having given it a bit more thought, this perhaps would explain a few instances of poor starter motor turn over lately???
The starter itself has only been on the bus for 300-400miles worth of driving and the battery is really strong. I'll have a good clean up as suggested. Cheers guys

Check that you have the earthing strap to the gearbox, really helps with lots of issues.

If it just cut out and you now have no electrics and had been fine before
then my money's on the ing switch try wiggling the key and the wires on the back
If not the big fatwire on the back of the fuse box may of come off
The same fat wire may of come off the starter

Old ignition switch is quite likely if the starter is newish. The run contact burns away over the years and leads to strangeness.

  9. I think for the sake of £12 I'll change it anyway but you're probably right.
