Brakes with a 5 x 130mm PCD any suggestions

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Floki, Oct 17, 2017.

  1. i want to run Porsche wheels without adapters any suggestions for brake/hub combo's and the best place to get them? i do not mind running disks or hubs on the rear its all budget related i guess

  2. I run Porsche hubs front and back with discs all round, Porsche supercups 5 x 130 pcd .it would be more cost effective to use adapters otherwise 944 hubs are required, and as to any mods needed I’m unsure .
If you require any pics just ask mate.

  3. You can just re drill front and rears to fit 5x130 ...or go early bay front spindles and 944 discs and calipers , loads of kits out there

  4. Just spotted a rear disc set up on eBay with a stud pattern of 5x130, might be worth a look

  8. What you will find is if you add caliper piston areas together it won’t be as good as standard bay calipers ... yes they look better but not as good performance wise

  9. I’ve tested mine with a mate , he’s got discs front and drums rear , from 40mph to stand still . Takes him extra 20yards !

  10. So lab conditions then !!..standard bay will lock front wheels

  11. The Porsche set up was already on when I purchased , my flagbus has a standard set up and performs perfectly ok . I would spend my money elsewhere on the bus , the Porsche set up sounds and looks good but the reality is it is a luxury item.

That’s the difference in tyres, or the driver, nothing to do with brakes.

  13. Whatever !

  14. I've run 15" fuchs with adaptor plates for 15 years.
The extra width of adaptors does limit tyre choice
Id like to switch to porsche pattern hubs, but just can't justify the expense
......Especially after i read this article about brake upgrades over on the prototype bay
