Bite bullet time, engine out

  1. Once you get stuck in, it'll be fine . Just follow your nose.

Plug thread from memory is 14mm x 1.25, but I'd avoid using helicoils on plugs. They may get baked on, and come out with the plug later. Inserts are better in my experience.

  2. I had helicoils on my earlybay 20 years ago... a big bang and a dent in the side of the engine bay as it threw a plug while driving through a small village outside Southampton was the start of taking these engines apart!

  3. Cheers Snotty, will try and source inserts separately then.

  4. Unfortunately, you’ll need the kit/taps to put them in with. Sealy do a kit.

  7. Like the jack! Easier than balancing on a trolley jack

  8. Waiting for wind and rain to move on for a bit, van outside so need the annual Indian summer to turn up? Then will go for it.

  9. I know but a bit pricey. Hoping I only need a couple of inserts. Have access to most of the other bits.

  10. I got bored of waiting... luckily close enough to house to ring up a tarp.. [IMG]
