Make sure you check out the Tapas in Bilbao! On the way back up then La Rochelle is nice (campsite right in town but book this beforehand) - St Emiliion near Bordeaux is great for wines
We did this same trip in 2010. We spent a week surfing near Biarritz - in a fabulous beach side campsite. Name escapes me but I can look it up if you are interested. On the roadtrip north we can highly recommend spending a few days at Puy du Fou - a French historical theme park. I know it sounds dull - but it was awesome - loads of live shows which were really top class and you must see the nighttime show Cinescene if you go - it is the most breathtaking show I have ever seen. Loads of details on the net and you can book tickets in advance. We stayed at a lovely campsite about 10 mins away which had a lovely municipal outside pool next door. Can also recommend the Asterix theme park near Paris which you can get Tesco vouchers to get cheap entry. We had a great 3 weeks on this holiday and the bus did not miss a beat until just outside Calais when we broke down on the last day and had to be towed all the way home!
Thanks for all the replies We leave tomorrow and looking forward to it 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) .... just need to pack the bus in the morning ) Will try and take some pics and post them up when we get back
