Bearing shells - am I going mad?

  1. Right. Case that's been line-bored, journals and crankpins that have been ground. By measurement and checking with my fancy CSP gauges - who would not lie to me, as they're respectable Germans - the case has been bored by 0.5mm, the journals and crankpins by 0.25mm. End web has been shaved down to 21mm.

The existing middle shells, which have a little Kolbenschmidt(?) heffalump on are marked U0.5 U0.25 (see pic). In depths of my mind, I recall that the markings went crank/case/(web), which is demonstrably wrong.

Am I going mad, or are the markings case/crank, which is correct?

    Ta.

  2. Right, I've come to my senses: it's case/crank. As you were...

You need to work on your selfie technique, you really do...

Remind me to avoid any questions you have on piston rings!
