balance pipe elbows.

  1. Hi, I am half way through swapping engines on my '78 2.0l bus (getting it out was ok....).
The one I took out was a very badly fitted engine originally from a T25, with wrong tinware heat exchangers ect. Amongst other things the balance pipe with the take-off for the brake servo had been by-passed with another piece of vacuum pipe- which might explain why the brakes needed a bit of a shove!
The engine I am fitting was fuel injected, but I am transferring the solex carb set-up from the other one.
The T25 engine's balance pipe seems to fit snugly against the tinware, so I think it is safe to assume this is interchangable, but I believe I am missing the rubber 'elbows' between this and the inlet manifolds. Justkampers have none in stock, so since I am swapping the inlet manifolds anyway I intend to swap them round so that the take offs for the balance pipe are from the branches of the inlet manifolds for cylinders 1+2 rather than 3+4. I can use pieces of normal vacuum pipe with a more gentle curve to avoid kinks in the absence of the proper elbows.
The balance pipe and servo are a closed system so I cant see that this would be a problem- or am I missing something?
