automatic cat feeder?

  1. does anyone have ant=y experience or recommendations of/for an automatic cat feeder?

i only need one for weekends. i've tried cat sitters but haven't had much luck. this summer one had a sneaky bath and managed to flood the bathroom, which in turn flooded the kitchen below and that was within 12 hours of me going away. another left the windows and back door open and the house empty for bog knows how long. this may have been to get rid of the flies that had taken up residence as the old/uneaten cat food was stored in a carrier bag hanging from the cupboard handle!!!!!
i pay these people and frankly think it'd be cheaper and less stressful to have an automatic feeder.
(my cat hates the aircooled engine noise, so taking her with me is not an option either)

  4. Mr Tibbs has loads of 'Whiskas complete' when we go away, and several bowls of water. There has always been some left when we've arrived home. :)

the ex had a dog feeder which failed. poor dog was a bit hungry when she got home. :dog:

  5. We've used them for years with no problems.

I would advise the battery models over the clockwork ones and make sure you can buy spare ice packs for the bottom as you always seem to lose them.

We used to put dried food into the later meal and that way could make it last over a bank holiday weekend if necessary.

  8. our old cat used to feed it's self while we were away, we would leave him some cat biscuits and the meet he would find his self

we found if we left meet for him he would just leave it anyway

we now have a new kitten that doesn't go out yet so i think he is going to stay with mum while we are away at oktoberfest
