Having seen @Dr a 's ad for a set of Heritage soles carbs, which don't fit automatically vehicles, according to Heritage
What carbs would fit as replacements...mine have been refurbished, but won't last forever?

I’d they’ve been refurbished they should last 20k minimum, hopefully more like 60k miles , what engine are you running?

  3. I’m running a pair of Weber 34ict’s which work well on my Auto
A pair of 40idf’s would have been even better in hindsight. But at just sort of a grand for the kit a bit pricey.

Standard 2L, they were done about 5yrs ago so probably 15-20k miles.
Had the issue whilst in Scotland with the idle valve on the L/H carb, but sorted by an engineer and think it will outlast me.
When the carbs were put back together the garage made a comment about a piece that is peened into the casting was a little loose and said keep an eye on it...can't even see what he was.on about, but thought it might be prudent to consider options for the future.

Did the auto linkage cause any issues?
Mine has the later auto box, with a metal bar running to bar between the two carbs.

I have also been running the 34 itcs with my 003 box for years, no problems but I had to fit the heat riser gaskets from Fastroadcars

I had a Weber single carb on my 003 gearbox, tuned properly it ran really well

    Just before it broke?

It broke because of the Marmite engine builder not because of the carb.

Some people hate the single Weber but I had no problems with it and it ran well.

I had a single Weber for a few years, the conversion of the solid accelerator bar to a wire was shall we say problematic...got through so many accelerator cables.... but I had no issues with the carb itself.

I think I was lucky I had the early box.

  12. I think mine is the early Auto box 1974? It has the metal dipstick tube through the bulkhead into the engine bay. I manufacured a support to clear the carb throttle cross bar.

  13. mines got a twin choke weber on it, was there when i bought it, runs ok and reasonable mileage from it. I have got some baby dells to put on but havn't got around to it
yet. Plus i hate changing stuff when it's working ok

The peened in bit might be the fuel inlet pipe.. check and JB weld if needed.

I have rebushed a Weber 32/36 using off the shelf Oilite bushings and a Black and Decker in a drill press and a sharp new 8mm drill bit. At about 70k miles. So you can keep them going .. mine was worn out using the EMPI throttle cable at 45 degrees style linkage before I redesigned it.

Where do I find it....not gone to van yet, but Haynes/Bentley don't mention it?
    Cheers in advance!

  16. a good refurb can last a long time. Much as I’d love to sell you some carbs. I suspect you don’t need them :)

74 should be 003, 003 has vacuum modulator and a central
cable all the way to the carb

Is it the brass elbow on the right hand side of the bowl?
Not the carb fitted but a similar one. [IMG]

Not hard to glue back on if it's weeping slightly.

When the carbs were rebuilt, the garage said keep an eye on it, you don't want it falling into the engine.
That's where the fuel goes in, but I don't think @mikedjames meant that one.
