At what age do your Parents start going BONKERS ??

  1. Why is it, as your parents get older they start becomming Mad, and more to the point is it at a certain age??

I am 42, and my parents are 67 and 69 and they just do the opposite of what ever you ask and also when you all
go out you end up cringing with embarrassment !!

    Eg.

I am at work today, and my Wife thought to get my 2 boys out of their rooms and some fresh air, they could get the bus round to my mums for dinner and then the bus back. Only a few miles, but it will get them off their arses. Phoned my mum and said only do them a simple dinner and no cakes or buscuits, as one of my sons has a lot of allergies and is on a sugar/yeast free diet. No worries she says. 30 minutes later she phones my son on his mobile to ask when he is coming round and that she has made some cookies >:D >:D He said he can't have them, and she said, I'm sure you can just have one >:D >:D

WHY OH WHY......................What is wrong with you mum

Don't even get me started on my Dad........................Madder than Mr Mc Mad from Madsville :p

Are all older parents like this??

  2. Paley's mum is particularly bonkers when it comes to anything food related.

When he moved up back north from London, I used to travel up at weekends and she would always make me sandwiches for my trip home. Very sweet you might think, until you find out what was in them. Tongue sandwiches? Erm....no thanks. Tomato sandwich...(yes, just tomato)...no thanks. I used to just bin them except for one weekend just before pay day when I was starving - opened them up with dread and was well chuffed to discover the filling was corned beef. And mango chutney. WTF!!!!!

When we first lived together, she would always - ALWAYS - bring us a bottle of Orange Squash and 2 cans of tinned tomatoes. Every. Single. Time.

[/glow] she's just rung to tell me that for Pascale's surprise afternoon tea party at our house tomorrow she is bringing a fruit cake. With Edam.

My mum on the other hand is Irish and has always been bonkers. At 7 she threw an entire dinner service at my head because I hadn't washed one of the plates properly. And she STILL maintains that this story is funny!

I think parents start going bonkers as soon as they become parents -

so we are all to blame ???

i think they are all of the time when they can still remember making do a lot more than we do, this makes them a bit odd with food for sure, trust me though you need to cherish the little silly things, you'll miss them when they go, i would kill for one more day with my mom.

  5. My parents have always been bonkers!

  6. My mum and in-laws are all away with the little fat fairies, but then I'm sure our young 'un would argue that I am completely hatstand!!! :p

  7. My parents have driven me mental since the day i was born. I love them but just cant be around them for to long before world war 3 breaks out and i revert back in to a 13 year old boy.

I think that its a way of them getting their own back on us when they do things like that. Years after years of disobedience from us as children so they take any opportunity to get us back when we grow in to adults. Well that's my theory :))

  8. my ids are sending me bonkers :)

  9. Planned madness !! I get it now. The buggers are sitting at home plotting their next move.

Bet my Dad is watching a documentary on the 'life of a sea slug', right now, just so he can come round and tell me all about it.

Love them to bits, they are always there to help out, but with some added bonkersness thrown in :)

  10. I'll be doing the exact same things to my kids when they have grown in to adults with their own families :))
