Amazing thread from start to finish , just when you need when things get tough on your own project ! You'll get my vote !
well......ive decided after a looong time of "no bus action" i would ressurect the old boy, and rip him to bits...... I Have so far removed the interior units at the back and the nut cracker unit, ive ordered a Rusty lee full width bed, and will be constructin new units and what not when the bed arrives. We have been camping a few times in arthur, and have always felt that the bed just wasnt quite big enough, hence the interior re vamp. Ive also had a couple of rusty bits pop out, so im attending to these as we speak. While im at it, im going to actually finish the electric hookup, install the stereo and speakers, and new interior lighting. Think that putting him on the road before id decided it was actually finished, was a mistake, in the fact that i never actualy finished anything, we just lived with what we had! Let the Games begin........
Well, I've been a busy boy the last couple of nights and yesterday. Bought a Rusty Lee full width bed, and Foams from Kens Kustoms with memory foam This has been built, literally took me 10 minutes and was so simple. A great bed and a great design. I then started on sorting the new unit out. Here's how far I've got.... The old interior complete with bed and sink is now for sale, hence the mock up photo I've now got to find a sink that will fit in the new unit and finish off making the worktop etc But progress at least.
Today's progress. Decided I'd make my own worktop, so I laminated some ply all keeps in the theme of the interior Then made a shelf to support the drawer runners. Then cut and fitted the worktop. I've also ordered a new sink and hob combo
Don't take this the wrong way cosni like the look but Is the small extra but if worktop there as a use or is it just for aesthetics?
Hi matey, it's there because as its a panel van you end up with scrappy edge and nowhere nice to finish the door card, so I though I'll sail it past, for aesthetics and roc over up the top edge of the door card. Also gives a small shelf for stickin ya phone on at night while its chargin or something
Thanks Paul. I was hoping to have some time on it tomorrow, but as I've somehow managed to get my T5 in the concours at Stanford hall on Sunday, I'd better spend the day cleaning it haha. Perhaps I'll have Thursday and Friday next week off. The joys of being self employed eh haha.
I've just spent ages repainting my T5 so it's how I want it externally. And now I'm doing the Bay, as the poor things been neglected of late.......
Oooooh that's pretty mines a work van so I can't fit a nice interior unfortunately. So I settled on making the exterior sexy instead
Having a fun day today. Finally getting to grips with this unit The new sink and hob is cut in and fitting well I've made the drawer for the cutlery and made a shelf and a back board for the cupboard. Also installed the two double sockets and 1st fixed the wiring, also installed the 12v feeds to switches for lights and stereo, and a 12v sub socket I've also made a start on making the nut cracker unit for the rear
That's looking great It's the sort of unit I want but I want it to hold a twin burner with grill box type camping cooker and I want the top to lift of and become a table Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The nutcracker unit is built, lights fitted and the unit is fitted. The lights are working too The 240 electrics are in and almost complete. The 12v electrics are all sorted and tidied up And the new door cards are fitted all trimmed and the main unit has been assembled and fitted.
Oh, and the biggie. After 4 years of driving around with a stereo, I now actually have some speakers haha.
