Arkansas to Bristol '78 import bus

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Ianlea73, Sep 17, 2015.

  1. What are you having done to the driveway? Making it parking friendly?

  2. Ye originally it meant I could get a project in the corner & my missus car across the drive. Access was from the side. I've now dropped the curb at the front & moved all the uneven paving slab steps upto the front of the house. It means we will have a 4 car driveway. Best of all it means when my bus is finished I can park it under the front room window.

  3. Paving, the extended wall down to the pavement & the pillars will be finished tomorrow. Last job is steps up to the front door being finished in Egyptian marble.

Pics of the van will follow next week.

  5. Thank you very much. I'm super happy.
Can't wait to get my bus on there when it's finished.

  6. Got back in gear & started doing a bit to the bus.
I've had some welding done so it's been away for a while.
I had a new battery tray fitted, new rear valance, patches under the front seats, new front floor 1/2 on the drivers side & rear arch patches. Biggest job was the boot floor. I rubbed down the roof & satin lacquered the top half of the van.
Haven't got pics as it's dark & dingy in the unit. I'll wait until it's dry & roll it outside.
In the meantime I've refitted lights, sidemarkers, bumpers, door handles & locks.
Hoping to bribe anyone local to help fit the windows.

  8. Had a few hours this afternoon so I decided to clean up the back seats. This is the 1st wash. I ended up using tar & glue remover as they were minging.
I then rubbed down the rear seat hinge & gave it a coat of primer.

  12. I need to sort through my seat belts & work out if it would be better to buy new rear inertia belts for the rear bench & 2 lap belts for the centre seat. Then 2 new inertia belts for the front seats.

  18. Hi all, long time no progress. Unfortunately due to work & private issues I may have to sell my bus. Really unsure on how to value it.
Basically all welding done & paint blended. Top half rubbed down & satin lacquered. All new window rubbers & original green tint glass.
All parts removed are still here. Have a read through the thread & let me know a genuine value.
Only thing it never came with is an engine but I so have a fully rebuilt 1641cc in my unit.
It's a bad time for me to have toys so needs must.
This isn't a for sale thread just gauging a value.
Would someone local be able to come over & give an honest opinion on value??
    I'm in Bristol.
