Applying Waxoyl

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by dookie, May 21, 2019.

  1. Hi

I've neglected my van for the last few years and the chasis is suffering. It's not to bad yet but i need to get on top of it. Im going to apply waxoyl on it. My question is do I just slap it on everything or are there bits I miss out.

    Cheers

Cut the rust out and weld in some more pieces first...or if it’s mot except, sell it and charge more for the ‘patina’, ‘ratted’ look... as long as it’s over 12” from anything structural.

    Right kids?

Bilt Hamber sell products similar to waxoyl but come in aerosol cans with long hoses to go inside sills and chassis legs through drain holes.

I paint anything metal and avoid anything non metal.

Now I have tried thinning Waxoyl and spraying with compressed air using an underseal spray gun, I am not going back to having it cool down and clog up the sprayer, or melt the pipework trying to clear the clog.

The compressed air gun also has a nice long nozzle.

Bear in mind that once you have slapped waxoyl all over the place, welding will become a horrible nightmare of a job... if you suspect something will need repair in the near future, fix it before waxoyl, or your welder will call you names that can't be mentioned on a family forum..

  8. What like “an estate agent” ?

Sorry if that’s not suitable. I understand it’s a term most right minded people find offensive.
