Yes Betty pulled mine oooops I mean ours down yesterday , I’ve seen the light and we have walls again ,! At least our tree isn’t real so nothing to get rid of just ladder up to loft .our fairy is happy too not to have a light up her bricheese
Opted for an artificial tree this year, got boxed away in 15mins yesterday, instead of me getting covered in sap as I usually wrestle a real one out of the house. As someone else said, as a kid we had paper decs up with drawing pins in the same ceiling holes every year, and some metallic foil type ones as well, all highly flammable no doubt.
took our outside lights down in two minutes, they have failed so with a quick tug, bundle up and in the waste bin which was emptied today! yippee.
When I was very young, my parents had real candles on the tree, in holders which clipped onto the branches! A bit like these:
I arranged our Xmas tree so it comes out of the floor, like Thunderbird 1. Push of a button, and it's gone again. FAB
My Aunty Jean had an artificial tree that unfolded with all the deco sand lights already on it. It sat atop her Bontempi organ, then she put it away after Christmas, still with everything on it
Of course not! They were eventually replaced by these which were just as dangerous as they got quite hot (that's if you could get them working). Christmas was much more fun in those days!
Ah. My Dad would spend many hours cursing at those before Xmas, trying to work out which bulb in the string had blown. We made our own entertainment in those days...
