Anyone near Devizes, Wiltshire with a timing gun?

And a free hour or so in exchange for tea and bacon butties?
my bus is down on power, laggy, and sounds like a John Deere.....pretty sure its a timing issue but dont have a spare fifty for a decent strobe and not all that confident about how to use one even if I did. Give me a water cooled vw and ask me to stick a 20 valve in it and im good to go, but this old Marmitee....lol After a quick tutorial if anyone livess locally and can help me out

You don't need a "decent" strobe - any old cheapy thing will do, it's just a triggered flashing light...

 

I've just bought an adjustable timing light for £30

 

Set your ignition timing statically with a light bulb. It'll give virtually the same result as using a strobe.

 

It's always reassuring for a strobe to show maximum advance never goes above 28 deg

 

Pretty sure I met you the other day? were you in B&Q buying paint? lol

 

Picked up a gunson advance light off a mate for free in the end. Set up the timing for the 009 max at 28 degrees and it runs like a sewing machine now
