  6. Hi, IZZYBAY, fbivw are so busy restoring their own imports that they no longer offer resto service for others, or so i'm led to believe, will double check. They have huge stock of parts, panels etc. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

  13. Most of these items can be stored under the front passenger seat, lift away the rubber matt that covers the front of the seat and there is a very large cubby hole just for these items.

Not much point carrying bags of spares if you don't know what they are or how to use them. And by the time you do know, you'll also know the condition of existing parts so would replace rather than break down prior to driving. Therefore I reason taking any spares is pointless so I don't and also didn't when I had no recovery contract.
    Spares are for wimps. :D
OK maybe a few cables then as they don't take up any room.

  16. Hi and welcome.

Whenever I service the bus I keep the old plugs, cables, points and anything else I have changed in the back just in case I have upset the delicate equilibrium that has kept us from calling the big yellow taxi on all our previous excursions.

  18. thought I would take Pebbles for a run today, sun out!
filled her up and set out........gears bit notchy then...aargh .....no gears at all!
after many unsuccessful attempts......and coasting to the kerb, I found I can put her into gear with engine off but cannot put into gear with engine on!

eventually recovered......to local VW garage in Cardiff.
    Missing her already!

    any ideas? clutch?

Yes clutch or cable, more likely cable/cable conduit problem.

  20. Hi from Lancashire - I just carry a hydraulic bottle jack and wheel nut spanner ( spider actually), a couple of square blocks of wood to rest it on, ( for when you are on grass) + spare plugs and a litre bottle of oil.
