Air Compressor leaking

  1. Anyone know anything about Sealey Air Compressors?
My one has worked faultlessly for the last 10 years but recently I has stopped holding air.

It seems to be leaking air from this part (taken the cover off)

Hoping its a seal or something. Anyone got any experience on these?

    Thanks in advance

  2. That's your automatic stop start you can buy a new one just go to machine mart they sell them hope this helps

  3. This is fairly stupid response...but the one at work packed up, and an oil change sorted it. Whether it's relevant to yours I have no idea. Good luck!

This. I have an identical compressor doing the same. As it runs all the time for my air-fed mask anyway I use it for that. I found they'd used some hectic locktight assembling it and can't get the booger apart.

  5. There's a rubber diaphragm in the bottom of the housing... It's square with a screw in each corner..

Check the screws are tight, but you might have to pop it apart and put it back together... Mine leaked there too... Sorted after a couple of turns on the screws!!

  6. they have oil in them....

How do you know a rusty one is'nt going to go bang one day?

  7. I've got the same compressor, watch out for that air valve. When I first got mine I got it up to pressure, tightened up the air hose into the valve (in no way over tightened) BANG! HISS! The golden monkey metal that it was made from cracked and blew the olive straight out the garage door, thankfully I wasn't in the way! After ripping sealey a new one down the phone they sent me a solid brass one instead.

What type of oil should you use in a compressor?;)

  9. My compressor ( an ancient 1964 industrial model) uses SAE 40 compressor oil. It's powered by an electric motor driving a piston. I think small more modern models do it differently.

Have a look at the small brass relief valve, mine is the same as yours and the small rubber seal had split
just take the brass cap off the end, and there should be a spring and rubber washer in it

  13. what if one day the compressor got wrapped round your rear bumper and after driving off you broke the dials off ,Then because you messed the swimming pool filter up you decided to put that valve on ,but after 2 minutes it goes to full (very full) ,What is the worse that could happen?

  14. Unscrew the top and found the problem.

Where can I source one of these? looks like a rubber diaphragm to me

  16. Just had an email back from Sealey

That part only comes as a complete pressure switch part number SAC9063254, retail price £33.56+VAT+P&P (£40.27 plus post)

Bit mean to make you spend £40 for a few pence gasket

  17. Sounds like sealey to me... I've had dealings with their customer service team before... Needless to say I won't be buying from them anymore!!

  18. Pretty sure you can just get some rubber sheet just big enough to cut something like that out?
A camping shop or strangely gym supplies might help? Oddly today I found some new exercise thing where you use a thin rubber strip (size of a scarf) (it was some gym ad at work?) perfect for you ? No idea what its called but will try and google it for you
