Seen this for sale on the Frosts website. Does anybody use an additive and is it worth the bother? https://www.frost.co.uk/ethomix-corrosion-inhibitor-additive-ethanol-protection.html
Seems expensive for day to day usage but probably not a bad idea if your vehicle is laid up for some time.
if you're worried about ethanol in your fuel, buy fuel without ethanol (esso super last time i checked).
Really, I didn’t know that. Are all the super grades of fuel without Ethanol. I know they have a higher octane content.
From the Esso website: ‘Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97) is ethanol free (except in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area and Scotland). We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ – providing they do not fill up in Devon or Cornwall, the Teesside area or Scotland.’
You'll probably find ethanol in the fuel even in the areas where they supposedly dont have it, as supply chains break down or drivers have to cover different areas, i doubt they would gurantee ethanol free fuel anywhere.
Not really, it depends on which refinery produced the fuel and because it says Esso on the tanker doesn’t mean to say it came from an Esso refinery. The Ineos refinery in Grangemouth produces the fuel for Scotland and the North East of England.
Just keep using the bus. Keep the fuel running through the system so it does not get a chance to soak up water. Round here at Hamble/Fawley all they do is bung in the final brands additive package into the same stock fuel loaded into the tanker at the terminal. So for instance Tescos FUBAR'd a load of AFM elements by coating them in silica by overdoing the normal amount added to fuel a few years back with fuel from the same terminal as e.g. Esso or Shell...
