I think he has a complete Accuspark distributor with the cap off and the rotor arm fitted but he can’t get the distributor body with the O-ring down far enough to locate it in the drive. If it’s not lined up hitting it won’t help but if he removes the body O-ring he should be able to easily push down and turn it to locate the drive.

  3. No, he said he wanted to borrow @CollyP ’s lubricated flange before having another go.

  4. Right got the dizzy in used plenty of lube next problem is on first turnover we had a loud backfire! Im guessing the firing order is wrong on the dizzy here’s a photo with the pen pointing to plug 1 on the dizzy ! 23A2FE6A-2EA3-4834-989D-5096B80BE4A8.jpeg

  11. Right got the firing order sorted and she is starting first time! Once started it’s not ticking over quite the opposite really . What do I do next

  12. Got a strobe?.. adjust the timing with the vac hose off to 28 at 3000 revs ..in most cases.. assuming valves are already set...when it was cold . then head over to carb tuning

What I would do now is look at you tube for visual of others sorting the timing . It's easier to watch than have someone write it down on here . Or buy a service book . Where are you maybe someone could call in from on here

  14. So before the dizzy went in I refit my carbs they have been reconditioned ( gower & lee ) . When it starts now it’s running at high revs straight away , is there some adjustments I need to do before I attempt the timing

Here's a typical video. There will be better

  16. I am way down in Pembrokeshire

  17. ... if the high revs carry on after chokes come off probable idle air volume ...big screw top left carb needs closing down a bit... but could be one of many adjustments as they're all inter-linked

Adjust the valve gaps and timing first then fiddle with the carbs.

  19. ^this. Resist the temptation to “adjust” the carbs.
