  1. Thks Pkrboo - good reading.

What about the pertronix ? will i need to check this again ?

I thought it was a set and forget item but maybe i need to check the gap just in case.

Does anyone know what the pertronix gap should be ?

  2. Thankyou yep 0.85mm is correctly, just double checked !

    :)

Running out of things to check now.....
    :(

  3. checked pertronix - still at 0.85...

Checked the bolts on the intake runners........ OMG...... loose !!!!

What torque should they be done up too ??

Ive done them up quite tight, swapped the carb back to my original and it's 100 times better already.

still a bit burbly and missing a bit now, but i suppose i should re-time, check plug gaps, etc...

Woo Hooo - we are definately getting there now guys ! thanks for all your help - thought i was going totally mad !

Pulls a-lot better but still a bit of a flat spot on accel and goes totally lean as i accelerate, so i'll re-do all the carb setup again, as soon as i definately dont have any air leak on the runners.

I can totally remove the idle mixture screw at the moment and it does nothing to the engine tone, so we'll see what happens once i get the runner torqued up correctly.

Actually are there supposed to be gaskets on these ? - might be worth renewing....

    Karma to all so far....

  4. Should have gaskets on the inlet manifold to head and between manifold and carb,

i set mine up using a multi meter with a rev counter built in attached to the coil, get it ticking over at about 850rpm set the ignition timing, balance the carbs on the throttle stop until the rpm is correct and the carbs are balanced, reset timing, check rpm again then:
on my replacement solex's the idle screw sholuld be out about 2 turns then, turn it in a fraction of a turn on each carb until you hear the sound of the engine change, then turn it back out a fraction of a turn, i did this on mine then put the colour tune on it and there was no need it was perfect.

This how i set mine up there may be a better way, but it seemed to work for me :)

  5. if it makes you feel any better I have the same problem with dual carbs which I cant for the life of me work out why there is a flat spot @ low revs. tried pretty much everything!

Flat spots are normally indicative of a 009, can't remember what you have?

  7. I've got a vac advance dizzy...

Havn't had a chance to try and tuneit again yet - Mrs has been in hospital again ! :'(
