A Whirling sound from gearstick

  1. 92F601B0-C6AC-44B9-896D-F4DD0141BFED.png I wonder if anyone can help I’ve got a whirling sound from my gearstick it seems to happen when I’m in fourth gear but when I slightly move the gearstick slightly to the left or right it tends to stop.
    could anybody answer me a question why this does this.

  2. The sound is transmitted via shift rod from the gearbox (that is possibly quite worn hence its happening in 4th) and then resonate in the cabin when pressed against the body
