Think I'll end up repairing it something like this (image taken from jimmy1975t2 resto).

I have a bit of a sore throat at the moment so to avoid chucking up loads of dust I prepped both inner and outer front arches for welding. Plug weld holes punched and weld-through primer along the weld points.

Not much progress over the weekend due to my sore throat, but I did get the N/S inner and outer front arch welded together.

  6. Hi James I'm trying to make the corner piece to the door and have brought same machine as you and trying to replicate the same repair section, I'm having trouble with which part to bend first for some reason I just don't seem to get it right Any help would be gratefully received

    @JamesLey

I'm gonna pick your brains on the areas around the deformation panel. Our main deformation panel is okay (the bit where the bumper fastens on). What else makes up the front section around that area?
ie, the inner panel, any other little repair sections.

I don't suppose you'd be good enough to post the parts would you please?

Majors deformation panel is okay but the panel behind it is rotten including the plinth where the front panel itself sits on.

    Thanks in advance :)

  8. Sorry to stick my oar in but I did this on mine years ago. The lip that the front panel sits on is the inner front valance and the deformation panel is welded to that. Then there's a panel which sits on top of the inner valance but behind the front panel which holds the washer bottle. It's also welded to the cab floor

that makes sense so don't worry about sticking your oar in, its useful info. Thanks for that. I don't suppose you have part numbers do you?

  10. Looking at schofields the Inner valance is 211703561D and the Brazil equivalent of the panel that holds the washer bottle is sold out but 211805331DB. I got a nos one from them for mine from a pre 72 which will fit a late but it's slightly taller. Worth giving them a call to see what they've got lying around.

Hey mate, looks like @Cockers got you the info you needed. For reference I fitted the following:

The washer bottle panel doesn't seem to be available anywhere so you'll probably need to repair what you've got. Ours was in pretty bad shape but after repairing it seemed to come out ok:

Hey mate. I found them quite tricky to get right (got it right 3rd time round!).
From memory the first two bends on either edge are fine to do in the folder, however the final fold which forms the channel for the seal needs to be started off in the folder and then finished by hand. I think I had some scrap steel around 10mm thick (so nearly as thick as the channel width) which I put into the channel and then hammered the final bend to 90 degrees around it.

Not much to show this week but progressing still. I’ve started closing up the bulkhead and B pillar on the N/S, working my way down the area. [IMG]

I’ve only repaired the bits that sit above the wheel tub and then a small bit beneath it thus far:[IMG]

The cab floor repair pieces arrived this week so I decided to get some zinc primer on the underside/inside of all the little bits that are sitting around the workshop at the minute (I’ll epoxy them at the weekend and then hopefully finish the bulkhead and wheel tub repairs):

    Cab floors:

Cab floor middle piece, outer rear valance and outer sliding door repair:

Bulkhead bulge piece (only the ends properly painted as I won’t need the centre), closing panels for the front arches, seatbelt mounts and repair for the O/S bulkhead.
