Hi. I picked up a 78 berlin deluxe but am thinking its well beyond my capability to restore. I did plan to buy a welder and teach myself but now feel it will be unfair on the old girl to do a bad job that someone else will end up re-doing, So shes up for sale or swap. Shes a german import. The chassis is very good as it must have been undersealed in germany. sadly all body work is wrecked. Needs new doors, new front panel, new slider, new tailgate, new hatch, new sills, new arches front and rear, new corners and trays and cab floor repair.. Roof is good as are gutters apart for one inch long section. The belin deluxe interior is complete and in mostly good order with a bit of flakey laminate on the cooker unit. 2.0 litre manual. Last MOT'd in 2006 and sat in a yard since until I bought it with the idea of restoration. If she doesnt sell then I will start to take the angle grinder to her and attempt to weld (wish me luck). If she does sell then she will go to someone that will hopefully do a better job than me. I would take a MOT'd beetle in part or full exchange. cash either way. I dont really however want to spend much more. I put the value of my van at £2300 ono. I know she can be broken for alot more. Ive seen people seling berlin deluxe interiors alone for over a grand and the roof for £500. Located in Brighton PM me if you are serious and I will send you some pics. I only have a couple at the mo as she is at a mates who is servicing the engine for me as shes been sat for so long. No time wasters please.
Forgot to say she has a new single webber carb and some panels with her (front arches and rear arches i think plus various others.).
