Yeah you buy a pair of grips to use them all, worth it tho very strong clamps which lets you line everything up
My new shot blaster setup arrived today and a few other panels as well so it'll soon be off to my other unit for a good clean up. Then the real damage will be clear to see!
At last new metal is going in New floor, top hats, wheel archs, inner sills, strengther sills, Out riggers, jacking points and chassis members. Also tried the shot blaster, abit messy
some very nice fabrication work going on here i like what i see - no need to buy it off the shelf be creative and make it Dale
Now don't get me wrong. You're doing a fantastic job. I totally admire the skill and dedication. But I see so many full-on restos going on. Totally rotten buses being chopped and welded all over the place and being brought back to live. It's another one saved. And fair play to you. But the work involved is simply huge, as are the costs of parts and so on. Wouldn't it be easier to source a rot free bus from the US? Or if you you really want an RHD, from Australia? I'd guess that pre rot free buses that have needed no chopping and welding are going to fetch far higher prices if you decided to later sell it, and would sell a lot easier too. But like I said, fair play mate, you're doing a first class job.
Indeed, I love welding and fab work this is just a hobby as much as driving/owning a van. It's nice just putting it back how it should be, and after all we have to save some! Tomo I'm putting up a mobile garage tent around the bus and hopefully will be blasting the bus, so that I can get more metal in. Cheers for the kind words
Photobucket Is playing up so no pics yet, I'm off to bed now anyway as I've an early start Tomo finishing off the blasting, I should have better pics as well soon.
