Hey guys and gals, does anybody know any one that’s been pinched in these new 20mph urban zones ? I personally only know one person and I’ve heard of a couple of others plus I’ve seen the stealth van outside of the property I was roofing on in Brizzal. Does anybody know anyone that’s been pinched after dark ? ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, 20mph in the dark and the rain and the only car on the road:);):)

Be unlucky if you was Ozzie. Think most of them should be time limited. Most are around schools but don't know many schools open late at night.

  6. Move up north Ozzie I’ve not seen a readable number plate for about two months

  7. round here is swamped with 20 mph zones and they are 24 /7 .

  8. Local councils are banging up 20mph signs all over the country, but failing to follow guidance on these.

DfT state that they should be used either in a 20mph zone, featuring traffic claiming measures, or on roads where the average speed is already no more than 24mph. The layout and use of the road must also give the clear impression that a 20mph speed or below is the most appropriate. The idea is that they are self enforcing - and hence reasonably useless, as for them to be put in place average speeds have to be around 20mph anyway.

Enforcement is pretty grey, national police chiefs came under fire a few years back saying they wouldn't enforce, so that's been changed to 'light touch'. You'd be really unlucky to get done in one.

I did a string of small roofing and painting jobs all within a fifty yards of a junction / give way signs etc. Over a period of three or four weeks I must have seen that speed camera van within a couple of hundred yards at least four times. He was parked up and set up for about an hour or so then he would move to another place. Almost like he was playing cat and mouse with the “”customers “”

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,, he clobbered a few I reckon.

  10. We have 15 mph thru a lot of our parks etc , most people seem to stick to them . We shouldn’t need enforcement but.....

Some of that is no doubt true; but around here at least, you’re very likely to get done.

  12. Interesting, I'm in Brizzle a fair bit, will take more heed of the 20mph signs. Round here it's definitely an optional speed limit!

  13. All councils are strapped for cash with all the government cuts, new cameras, yellow lines, carpark charging, anything to raise cash.

It was for me as well until I got done and had a choice of 1 date within the next 6 months to do the course as they were fully booked!

Funnily enough I’ve just come back from my awareness course and Bristol got a special mention because of this malarkey and we were led to believe this is gonna get more widespread. It was the course specially designed for peeps that have scraped through the red light and or those that have wavered over a solid white line. I got busted back in July picking up Mrs Ozziedog and another of her coven from the airport after their witches away week.;) I sorted the course but didn’t pay because it wouldn’t let me so I get a stroppy letter about a month later saying I was the scourge of the planet etc etc because I hadn’t booked this course and I had to report for a ritual beheading as promptly as possible. So I rang up to book my beheading and explained the situation and got let off but I still had to go on this Course. This was promptly re arranged for the end of the first week in January although I’d wriggled and wriggled trying to get it sorted before Chrimble because I thought I might forget. Anyway it didn’t get written on the calendar because we didn’t have one or a 2018 diary so as sure as eggs are eggs I forgot and was reminded by her wot should be obeyed two days later. So I ring up again and see what's to do. So I now have to pay forty five quid extra on top of the eighty five quid and they can’t get me into a local one:confused: So I’m in Bristol and get a choice of Bridgend, somewhere up in Yorkshire that I’d never heard of or Worcester and I had to take one of them or pay the fine and more for piddling about. So I went to Worcester. So don’t muck about with them courses.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,Anyways, back to this twenty malarkey :)
