  1. First trip of the year planned, West coast, Kintyre Tarbert, Mausdale, Campbelltown, Islay and Jura.. and thats about the full extent of the plan so far.. Booked into a site on the beach front near Mausdale for a couple of nights, but after that its all free style .. Sleeping bags are washed, vans had a spring clean, awning is secured to the roof rack, Vans MOTd but gonna give the plugs and points the once over, re set the carbs and change the oil for the trip. New Pushrod tubes seem to be doing there job of keeping the oil where it should be. A few annoying squeaks from the urethane bushes on the rear anti roll bar, working my way through various potions to find a squeak free cure

Oh and looking for a single 5 spoke as a spare :)

  2. 625 miles , no hiccups, van never missed a beat. averaged 25 mpg cruised at 52 no problem , come home early as we ended up with some kind of bug and were pretty sick on Friday morning, so packed up in Jura, caught the ferry to Islay then Islay to Tarbert and drove home non stop .. lots of pics to post later

Would I visit Jura again, No .. there isnt much there and the road, yep single road is a potholed nightmare.. massive wheel and tyre swallowing monsters.. Most of Islay is similar . Being constructed on a peat bg its deeply sunk in places and can be a proper anti roll bar scraping experience.

  3. did the silicone spray the week before we left during the pre trip prep.. Not a squeek to be heard but a fair sccccrrrrappee on some of those uneven Islay roads .. :) Had a good sleep, washed the salt spray off the van and et up with my buddy and his Mrs for a spot of wild camping and polish off a bag full of single malt miniatures, well we managed 10 miniatures via lucky dip, and half a dozen drams from various large bottles of single malt ... Bedded for 1am up at 7.30 , bathed in the river south Esk, not as cold as expected considering there was still snow on the hills up the glen, invigorating though.. :) Big breakfast and a long natter putting the world to rights..... just he usual

  4. So pics, nothing to exciting, wouldn't bother going back to Islay or Jura. roads are pretty bad and really not much to see, its not as spectacular as the north west coast. Some nice beaches but not so much dramatic scenery.

    First stop : Tarbert

Starting in Tarbert, a wee bit wet and miserable ..
