We'll, summer is over here in Canada and the truck is parked for the season. I got an Audi v8 Quattro for a winter beater. Fun car to plow thru the snow drifts with. Anyways, I have changed directions with the engine swap. The tdi engine I have is going to be installed into the 1984 rabbit. The truck will be getting a vr6 donated from a 1998 jetta glx. It is in good running condition and just needed a few things to get it running smoothly. Yesterday I installed some maintenance items like an aluminum crack pipe, water pumps, thermostat, o-rings and the tensioner bearing needed to be repacked with grease to keep it quiet. The engine received a new coil to replace the cracked one that was causing a misfire code. New wires. A/C delete, PS pump delete, new serpentine belt, I pulled a good alternator and oil dipstick from a passat parts car I have. The engine had a malfunctioning air pump so I deleted that and made a block off plate. I think that the engine is now ready for service in its new home. Sometime after Christmas I will start on the swap. I will keep you guys updated as I make some progress. I think having 172 hp on tap will make this truck a little more enjoyable to drive.
