For Sale, our beloved T2 late bay; Mabel.

Bought in May 2016 with dreams of long weekends and family holidays, the reality is work commitments for both of us means few opportunities have been possible. So we have made the difficult decision to offer her to new owners:

She really is something else and we have all fallen in love with her and the history that we have acquired with her, we have all documents from the day she was purchased back in 1978 from the Bianco Motors Inc Company in Sayville N.Y. and was purchased fro the princely sum of $7546.50 by a German Aeronautical Engineer for Lufthansa. Full Service history including original purchase invoice.

Mabel lived in the US until Sept 1991 and then she was shipped to the UK to be with her new owners who we purchased her from. So only 3 owners from new.

    Engine and Mechanical
Having recently had a new carburetor conversion (Twin Dellorto 45s) fitted to the reconditioned T4 2.0 Engine, the remaining fuel system was also replaced and features new Fuel Pump, Filter and fuel lines.

Electrically there is a new Distributor cap and leads, Coil, Battery and re-wound Alternator. A leisure battery is fitted (never used)

While in the workshop a full inspection of the chassis, under floor, arches and suspension confirmed the overall excellent condition. Happy for any inspection required.

The front suspension has been lowered by around 3 inches to achieve the very desirable 'Cal look'. Front disc brakes complete the mechanical setup.

    Interior
The interior has had replacement front 'pilot seats' with the passenger rotating to provide additional stationery seating. To the rear a full width Rock and Roll bed is fitted. The seating is colour coded to match the original VW Savannah beige bodywork. Matching Replacement door cards and contrasting red full width curtains complete the interior furnishing.
A number of bespoke cabinets provide additional storage and seating

A new aftermarket wood trim steering wheel complements a range of factory fitted additional dials.

    Exterior
Original VW Savannah Beige bodywork has been sympathetically restored offset by 'Patina' front and rear bumpers. After market Cosmic wheels add to the retro Cal Look. Factory fitted front fog lights plus recent rear fog light for MOT compliance
Additional teak Roof rack and side ladder are included in the sale along with a thermal all weather cover. Vintage Coleman coolbox with matching buddy seat padding.

  4. I hope you'll take this as a piece of constructive criticism - I think the bumpers are totally at odds with the rest of the bodywork. The photo from the rear in particular is off-putting.

  6. For anyone looking to buy one for a wedding rental vehicle it's perfect. What a lovely level of finish to the interior. Really nice bus. Got to agree with other posters though about the bumpers.
