1979 Bay overhaul/ resto

  1. I know everyone says pulling the engines out of these vans are easy, however it’s a bit of an alien concept for me as my experience up this this point has only even been front engine water cooled cars. It took me a while to get my head around how to do this in the camper, but I got there in the end.

    What removing the engine did reveal with a bit of automotive “time team” investigation was some history. It looks like the van although was currently white, has once been blue but originally orange. The engine itself looks to have been replaced at some point as its got a dark green main case, however its got its original sized pistons. It’s also got a Bosch 009 distributer and I think relatively new heads.

  3. Looking at the state of the current fuel pipe, its clear a refresh could not come fast enough. [
